For a long time now, HTC has been hot on the heels of Apple when it comes to being king of the smartphone market. The iPhone 4 will, of course, be one of the most popular smartphones out there – but what can HTC bring to the party to tempt Apple afficianadoes away from the iPhone?
Of course, we cannot judge a smartphone by its cover, but we cannot pretend looks don’t matter either. Both of these are good-looking devices. The age old question is, of course, does size really matter? Well, if it matters to you then you’ll be interested to know that the iPhone is much slimmer than the HTC Sensation, which at just over 11mm in thickness feels rather chunky.
However, when it comes to screen size, the HTC Sensation is the clear winner. It is almost a full inch bigger than the iPhone, 4.3 inches compared to 3.5. So that means for looking at photographs, browsing the web or watching movies, the HTC Sensation is. . . Erm. . . Sensational.
Both the smartphones have powerful processors and operating systems under the bonnet. The Sensation has a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor while the iPhone has a 1GHZ ARM Cortex A8 powering it.
Photography is an important feature of any modern smartphones, and here Apple has a thing or two to catch up with. The iPhone’s 5 megapixel camera is decent enough but the HTC Sensation‘s 8 megapixel beast beats it hands down. It’s good for taking video, too – another modern day smarphone essential.
Both smartphones also have decent secondary cameras for video calling and the like.
In terms of battery power, both are again impressive contenders. However, the HTC smartfone just edges it once more with its lithium ion 1520 piece.
So again – a tough decision. But if snapping pictures and videos, and having a great sized screen to watch them on, are important to you then the HTC Sensation is what you need.
