Institute of Computer and Finance Executives(ICFe) launches its CSR initiative ‘Koshish’
A crusade against inequalities in the society by creating employable skills in marginalized population and ensuring inclusive growth

Institute of Computer and Finance Executives (ICFe), the leading provider of training for BFSI sector, today launched its CSR initiative ‘Koshish: rekindling hopes, rebuilding society’ at New Delhi. This is a unique CSR initiative which will train and provide employable skill-sets to the students from the marginalized sections of the society (economically weaker sections, backward classes, minorities and the reserved categories) and provide them with employment opportunities.

ICFe imparts training in the fields of Accounting, Banking, Insurance and Financial Services. ICFe already has 60 plus centres running in the states of Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and the NCR region.

The CSR programme was formally inaugurated by Mr. Santosh Mangal, CMD, ICFe. Other dignitaries and speakers present on the occasion were Shri Ram Das Aggarwal, MP & Industrialist, Shri Chattar Singh, Chairman, OBC commission of Delhi, Shri G P Gupta, Director, National Institute of Financial Management, Prof. Sushil Kumar, Dean, Gautam Buddha University, Dr. Sayed Zafar Mahmood, President, Zakat Foundation, Mr.Ishwar T. Mahubabani, CSR consultant for US Corporates, Mr.Sanjay Chaudhary, Chief Corporate Communication, Tata Steel Limited, etc.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Santosh Mangal, CMD, ICFe, said “Koshish reaffirms the core values of our company and brings to the forefront our strategy of creating the best employable talent for the finance sector. ICFe has initiated this programme because we believe that there is no dearth of talent in the marginalized population, the only issue is of training, encouragement and creating opportunities. We hope that our Koshish will rekindle hopes and rebuild society”.

ICFe strongly believes that the nation cannot progress unless the fruits of economic growth are shared by every citizen of India and that inclusive growth is a must to remove the wide ranging disparities in our society.

Everybody from the Government and the Industry Chambers have been stressing on the need for job oriented training, development and enhancement of industry specific skill sets etc. but little progress has been made in terms of ingraining this for inclusive growth. So much so that today when anybody talks of Inclusive Growth, it is viewed as mere rhetoric.

In order to facilitate the absorption of people from reserved categories by the private sector, ICFe will train the backward and marginalized section of society and impart job oriented skills to make them industry ready. For this initiative, ICFe has initiated a dialogue with the Government and top corporate like Tata, Reliance ADAG, Microsoft India, CISCO, etc., to be active participants.

ICFe’s “Koshish” will, it is hoped, act as a catalyst for social inclusion in the jobs across Sectors. In the first phase, ICFe is looking at training 400 underprivileged students. ICFe has also invited corporates to sponsor certain number of students by providing them with customized training and job opportunities. ICFe plans to train over 2000 students from the marginalized population in 2009-10.

Under “Koshish”, ICFe will train the students from the “under-privileged” group and impart employable financial skills to them and then take them through the complete cycle by offering assistance for their placements.

The students will be drawn from lists provided by the Corporate Houses, National Commission for Backward Classes, National Commission for SC/ST, Employment Exchange and Minorities Commission for which ICFe has already written to them. ICFe may also have open competition for scholarships to these seats.

ICFe is offering the Corporates the benefit of getting trained manpower which is suited to their typical requirements in the critical functions of finance. The corporates will also be able to fulfil their social obligations through a campaign such as this. The Government also stands to benefit by making sure that its policy of the private sector employing people from the reserved categories gets a thrust forward.
