The International Association of Women Police (IAWP) is holding its 47th Annual Training Conference on September 20-24, 2009, at the Westin Seattle Hotel and Conference Center in Seattle, Washington. Over 600 international police delegates from around the world are expected to attend.

Seattle, Washington, August 24, 2009 — Coordinating the event is the Conference Director, Beth A. Lavin, the IAWP Regional Head for Region 9. Holding the fulll-time rank of Master Police Officer with the King County Sheriff’s Department in Washington State, Beth has headed this effort since winning IAWP approval for the Seattle location in 2006. “The 2009 Conference Committee is hard at work to make sure this training lives up to the IAWP standards for law enforcement,” Beth remarked at a recent meeting. “Our goal is to provide IAWP Delegates from the 18 IAWP Regions with information that impacts law enforcement globally. We are all policing without borders in today’s world. This training is an excellent opportunity for the international delegates to learn from each other as well as from the instructors. Additionally, we are looking forward to showing off Seattle and surrounding areas to the conference participants.”

The 47th Annual Training Conference kicks off on Sunday, September 20, 2009, with its traditional Parade of Nations where the delegates, in their full-dress uniform with their country flags on display, parade to the location for welcoming ceremonies. The Training portion begins on Monday, September 21 and runs through a full day on Thursday, September 24. This is the first time the Training has been held in Seattle, Washington USA. Also during the conference, the IAWP will host a law enforcement industry trade show. For additional conference details, visit the website at www.iawp2009.org.
