Life after the IE: Becoming a Successful Entrepreneur

L

How to get started, from the perspective of someone who dreams of having an independent life(looking for financial freedom)

Madrid, Spain, February, 2010 – The best way to introduce DFLAT is to note how its client portfolio includes corporations and institutions such as Telefonica and the World Tourism Organization, and how the company has provided accommodation for hundreds of IE students, both of which underline DFLAT’s commitment to great client service.
This talk will look at how a company can be started without funds, contacts or even experience of the sector. The development of the business will be explored, with an emphasis on showing how profits can be boosted by improving productivity. Both what went well and what went badly will be analysed, and an explanation will be given as to why one might be tempted away from a juicy London salary.
Attendees will gain a privileged view into the insights of entrepreneurs who started from not much more than just the support of the IE, and who now are enjoying the successful realisation of their plans and aspirations. The talk will conclude with key ideas and advice to take away and develop.
“Becoming an entrepreneur and achieving success in the property market without prior experience or contacts is hard, but perhaps not as difficult as might be imagined, and the same may well be true of other sectors. Cesar Rivera and I have achieved an NPV that is currently almost double our original estimate but we’re far from being high-flyers. So how have we done it? By being different!. The talk is offered with the heartfelt aim of helping students to achieve their dreams. In my case, I’ll be off to Columbia straight after, to present a project and work from the beach – my hope is that students will some day be able to do the same.”
The talk will be given by Saturnino Pérez, CEO and Co-founder of DFLAT, Bachelor in Business Administration and Bachelor in Actuarial Sciences at the UCM, Madrid. Executive MBA from the IE Business School (2003) and MBA in insurance from ICEA. His professional experience encompasses key roles in both the UK and Spain, and covers areas such as marketing (insurance and biotechnology), actuarial advice (insurance) and M&A consultancy.
The talk will be held at 7pm in S-101 (Serrano 99) on Wednesday 17th.

Please note that attendance is limited to 50 people. I look forward to seeing you there!
The conference will be held in English.
