New MathScore Features Targets Math Intervention

Palo Alto, California – June 14, 2010 – Accurate Learning Systems Corporation today announced new assessment capabilities designed to help math intervention programs. One of the major needs of any math intervention program is to perform periodic assessments and visually measure progress so that higher level administrators can quickly verify the effectiveness of the math intervention. MathScore’s new graphical displays of progress fulfill this need.

“Our customers have always been big believers of our math practice environment, which is the heart of MathScore, but they needed some additional tools to facilitate reporting to higher level administrators,” said Steven Yang, CEO and founder. “The new assessment tools fulfill these customer requests.”

To use MathScore effectively for a math intervention, it is expected that the students take an assessment once every few months. Over the course of a school year, a typical math intervention program should assign about 4 assessments. In sharp contrast, MathScore’s practice environment should be used as much as possible, at least one hour per week, because that’s where the learning takes place.

“One assessment every few months is sufficient to measure progress,” explained Steven Yang. “Students should spend most of their time learning with our practice environment. By comparing results from multiple assessments taken at different times, teachers and administrators can now visually see that all of the time spent practicing math concepts with MathScore was time well spent.”

MathScore helps students become better at math by providing unlimited, adaptive math practice. Developed by MIT graduates, MathScore is proven to raise test scores, and trusted by schools and individual families worldwide. MathScore is appropriate for first grade through Algebra I. The MathScore practice and assessment environment also provides automated remediation, enabling efficient differentiated instruction with minimal teacher effort.
