MAURITANIAN PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE WELD BESSID PROMOTES POLISARIO THE WESTERN SAHARA

M

Nouakchott, Mauritania, DECEMBER 10, 2012 ? Weld Bessid, Presidential Candidate and leading Mauritanian, West African politician, has today announced that if elected President of Mauritania, the top priority on his agenda would be the establishment of diplomatic relations with Polisario and the Sahrawi people in Western Sahara, while further pledging to continue maintaining his country?s already friendly relationship with Morocco and Algeria.

According to Bessid, it has been over 30 years since Mauritanian politicians have paid any attention to the Sahrawi people. It is against this background that he?s promising both Mauritanian?s and Sahrawi?s that if ?elected, my government will immediately change that for the better.?

Bessid?s practical experience serving as protocol for 15 years at the Mauritanian Embassy in Washington, D.C. in addition to his education in Political Science and Global Affairs uniquely qualifies him to serve the people of Mauritania. Thus why the Mauritanian presidential candidate states the establishment of diplomatic relations with Polisario will be a major plank in his political platform.

?The electorate can rest assured that when I am elected president of Mauritania, I?ll personally see to it that full diplomatic relations are established with the Western Sahara government,? says Bessid.

?Morocco and Algeria will still be our friends and neighbors,? he adds. ?I intend to extend diplomacy to the Sahrawi as they undergo self-determination and pledge help with diplomacy in stabilizing the region.?
