Company Receives Silver Award for Promoting Employee Physical Activity and Positive Health Choices

WAYNE, Pa. — June 8, 2010 — MEDecision, Inc., a leading provider of collaborative health care management solutions, has been named a winner of the Philadelphia Business Journal’s (PBJ) inaugural Healthy Workplace Award. The company received the ‘Silver Award’ honor in a ranking of mid-sized Philadelphia-area companies the publication says “…have gone out of their way to encourage physical activity and positive health choices among their staff.”

“Corporate wellness is an essential component of maintaining a healthy, high-performing culture that rewards results and fosters growth,” said Scott A. Storrer, president and CEO at MEDecision. “Supporting the health and well-being of our employees is therefore a top priority for us, and we are extremely grateful to have our efforts recognized.”

According to the PBJ, the Healthy Workplace Award winners were chosen by an eight-person panel consisting of publication staff and independent judges who scored nominations according to both quantitative and qualitative data on company wellness programs and perks. They identified employers offering numerous fitness ideas, creative wellness programs and incentives promoting healthy lifestyles.

The Healthy Workplace Award is the latest in a series of workplace- and wellness-related honors MEDecision has received within the past year. In September, the company announced that it had been named one of the Best Places to Work in Healthcare by Modern Healthcare Magazine and one of the Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania by the Central Penn Business Journal. Both awards were the result of direct employee feedback in surveys gauging company policies, practices, benefits and demographics, among other things. In November, MEDecision was recognized as a Gold Level winner of the American Heart Association’s Start! Fit Friendly Company Award for being an employer that champions the health of its employees and works to create a culture of physical activity.

“We’re very proud of the award-winning environment we maintain at MEDecision. The terrific involvement of our employees and their constructive feedback motivates all of us in the pursuit of excellence,” said Dick Haviland, senior vice president of human resources and organizational excellence at MEDecision. “It’s a credit to the commitment our employees have made to both personal and organizational growth and improvement. From corporate wellness, to training and development, to team building, they have embraced all of the programs and opportunities we have offered with great commitment and enthusiasm.”
