Jacksonville, Fla. (March 2, 2009) — Merchandising Plus is proud to have been selected to design and furnish Brighton Bay, a fabulous new senior independent living facility in Jacksonville. Brighton Bay is located in the Baymeadows area, adjacent to Sweetwater by Del Webb.

Brighton Bay will be completed in May of 2010 and will have 183 suites on four stories. 30 percent of the building is dedicated to community space for the residents’ use and enjoyment. The project is being developed, built and operated by Miller-Valentine Group, a 45 year old design / build / development / management firm headquartered in Dayton, Ohio.

Merchandising Plus was selected as the overall design-product management consultant team for the project and will be providing conceptual detailing, specifications, finishes, furnishings, fixtures and equipment throughout this senior resort lifestyle community.

Tom Rowe, Director of Senior Housing Development at Miller-Valentine Group, stated, “We are excited to work with Rita and her staff at Merchandising Plus on our new project called Brighton Bay. It is a pleasure to have such a great group of design professionals on our team who understand our concept and have the ability to implement it. They have really “dug in” to understand what we are trying to create for our future residents at Brighton Bay and have embraced our “resident centric” approach. We are confident our residents will enjoy Merchandising Plus’ work for years to come!”

We are thrilled at Merchandising Plus to have the opportunity to be part of the team put together by Miller-Valentine Group to help redefine senior independent living into a luxury, active amenity filled lifestyle community. Brighton Bay will provide its residents with the lifestyle they deserve and expect throughout their retirement years.

Our work will include designing and furnishing the common spaces throughout the 212,000 square foot facility. This includes a large dining pavilion where residents are served two restaurant style meals per day in a white tablecloth setting, a private dining room, an informal café, a large movie room, billiards room, exercise facility, library, lounges, sanctuary, beauty salon, craft room and much more. Life at Brighton Bay will be more like living in a cruise ship than a traditional senior housing facility.
