MaxAdventure are recreating Sir Stirling Moss’ 1952 record drive across Europe; 15 countries in less than 4 days, from Oslo to Lisbon driving over 4 mountain passes, including the 7400 feet Julier Pass in the Swiss Alps. In December 1952 Moss set the record for endurance long distance motoring across 15 European countries in under 90 hours driving a Humber Super Snipe http://www.maxadventure.co.uk/news_detail.php?article=189

Mac Mackenney FRGS will be leading a team of six in two expedition-equipped Land Rovers and will leave Oslo on Monday, October 12th to coincide with Sir Stirling’s 80th birthday celebrations. They will be driving along the same roads that Stirling and his team drove in 1952, avoiding motorways, along the 3,300 mile route. Stirling’s team completed the journey in 89 hours 59 minutes.

The 2 Land Rover vehicles will be in Help for Heroes branding with an ex-BBC tv director and producer filming live video footage en route -‘on the fly’ edited short content video posted to web and news sites during the 4 days driving. Sir Stirling Moss and photo opportunities are scheduled for him to ‘drop the flag’ on the team’s arrival in Portugal, on or before Sat 17th October.
