Model 4502 USB A/B Switch Features Both Local and Remote Control

M

Electro Standards Laboratories (ESL) has just announced the new Model 4502 USB Type-A A/B switch with Remote Control. The desktop Model 4502 allows accessing two USB Type-A interface devices connected to the A and B ports via one USB Type-A interface device connected to the COMMON port. The A, B, and COMMON ports are all Type-A USB connectors. The unit switches all 4 pins of the USB interface.

The Model 4502 may be controlled manually via the front panel pushbutton or remotely from an RS232 serial port located on the rear of the unit. Switch position status may be attained via the front-panel LED display or the REMOTE port located on the rear of the unit.

The Model 4502 switches all 4 pins of the USB interface and is transparent to data speed and format. The REMOTE port accepts RS232 Serial Data ASCII commands for switch position control and monitoring. The front-panel pushbutton control can be locked out remotely. The Model 4502 retains the last switch position in the event of a power loss and continues to pass data. An anodized aluminum housing provides EMI/RFI shielding.

An optional CE and UL listed wide range power module is available, Catalog No. 517277. This module features 100VAC/240VAC, 50Hz/60Hz in place of the standard 115VAC or 120VAC power module. This wide range power module and the Model 4502 form an ideal USB A/B switching solution for International applications. The dimensions of the Model 4502 desktop configuration are 7.75” W x 2.0” H x 7.0” D (19.7 x 5.1 x 17.8 cm). The weight is approximately 2.8 lbs. (1.3 kg). This switch is available at a discount to government agencies via GSA Schedule GS-35F-0286V.
