MORRISTOWN, N.J. – NJ BMW dealer BMW of Morristown wants to share the newest details about the 2012 BMW 528i. Some vehicles may not change from model year to the next, but BMW Group pushes for excellence by upgrading at every chance possible. BMW of Morristown believes the most recent upgrades to the BMW 528i may add significant popularity to the 5 Series.
There are three significant changes to the BMW 528i model this year:
• new engine
• added auto start/stop
• optional all-wheel-drive
Each of these upgrades has added considerable reasons for BMW fans to take a second look at the BMW 528i luxury sedan.
Engine
The engine on the previous models of the 528i included a 3.0L inline-6 engine. BMW of Morristown knows the newest model stocks BMW’s new TwinPower Turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that powers 240 horsepower and 260 lbs-ft of torque. This is 30 percent more torque than the 3.0L engine.
There are lighter cases and optimal designs to increase performance and efficiency. The 2012 528i accelerates from zero to 60 miles per hour in 6.2 seconds, which is 0.4 faster than the previous model. BMW expects 15 percent higher fuel economy on the newest 528i as well.
Auto Start/Stop
NJ BMW customers may love the all new addition of technologies like Brake Energy Regeneration and Engine Auto Start/Stop. When the BMW is stopped at a traffic light or in slow-moving traffic, the engine will shut off to minimize idling, which saves on fuel. Also, there is an added ECO PRO mode, which may be turned on by a switch. The ECO PRO mode adjusts the following to reduce fuel consumption:
• the engine map
• heating
• air conditioning
• mirror/seat heating
These eco-friendly technologies may give drivers better fuel mileage.
All-Wheel-Drive
As the start/stop technology is used for everyday driving, the all-wheel drive is important for four-season driving. Other 5 Series models have the option for the all-wheel drive, but until this version of the 528i, it was not available. Owners may feel safe with BMW’s Integrated Chassis Management, which identifies and limits understeering by shifting torque rearward. The system does this while keeping the vehicle stable as well.
Hill Descent Control is standard and it helps drivers descend slippery slopes and maintain control and speed.
NJ BMW customers may enjoy the 2012 528i as it is more powerful, more efficient and stealthier than any previous models. BMW of Morristown will be excited to welcome the new model into its showroom beginning this fall.
