Oceania Riviera Cruise Ship To Be Launched in April

O

Oceania Cruises’ Riviera is set to be launched in April 2012.

Ever since Marina – Riviera’s sister ship – debuted in January, the arrival of her sister ship, Riviera, has been hotly anticipated.

Naturally, the Riviera will be christened in Monte Carlo, Monaco on the French Riviera on the 19th April. She’s currently under construction at the Fincantieri Shipyard in Genoa

Riviera will set sail on her maiden voyage on April 24 – a 12-day itinerary departing from Athens– calling at ports of call along the way like Alexandria and Port Said, Egypt, Haifa, Jerusalem, Rhodes, Greece, Ephesus and Istanbul. After spending the summer and autumn sailing around the Mediterranean, she will then cross the Atlantic to spend the winter months in the islands of the Caribbean.

The 66,084-ton, 1,250-guest Riviera will have 10 dining venues – including six open-air restaurants and two private dining venues. Restaurants will include the Grand Dining Room, Toscana, the Polo Grill, Red Ginger, the Terrace Café and Baristas. The Riviera’s amenities will include an elegant grand stairway, number of lounges and bars, the Canyon Ranch SpaClub, Bon Appetit Culinary Centre, swimming pool and hot tubs.

Mal Barritt, director of cruises.com – the world’s largest cruise company – says ‘We’re very much looking forward to the launch of Oceania’s new ship Riviera. Having sailed on an Oceania cruise before, I can say that I’m an Oceania Cruises enthusiast. From the service, the accommodations to the number of dining options and, not forgetting, a world-class spa, everything on board luxury cruises from Oceania really is first-class. So, I’m definitely expecting very good things from Oceania’s Riviera.
