Budding models and anyone else dreaming of a modelling career, take note! Northern Irish street wear and fashion retailer DV8 will once again go out to the public to find fresh talent to be the face of the brand for 2009.
London, UK, April 01, 2009 — Launched last year, the company runs its annual model competition to find aspiring models aged between 17 to 30 to represent DV8 in all online and in-store advertising for a year.
The winners also get a yearlong modelling contract and a year’s worth of hair styling to help them further on their way to becoming a model. That’s a great start to a modelling career in anyone’s book!
Almost 400 hopefuls entered the competition in 2008 and the winners, 19 year old Carrie-Anne Burton and 18 year old Aaron Kearney, have had plenty of work since their star turns last year. Carrie-Anne has worked on several other projects, including the launch of Belfast’s Fashion Week. Meanwhile, Aaron’s modelling career has involved catwalk shows, fashion shoots, and appearing in a National Trust ad campaign.
“DV8’s modelling competition is a great initiative,” says Managing Director of nationwide modelling agency Models Direct, Damian O’Connor. “Of course it is a great opportunity for young people who are interested in clothes and fashion and who think they might want to become a model. But what makes it really innovative is that it also provides DV8 with a chance to align themselves with exciting young talent.”
“We’ve found that more and more of our clients are looking for similar opportunities. They know that their audience wants to see real looking people in advertising and fashion shoots, and they come to us to find a model that will fit the bill,” he says.
“So you can see how a competition of this sort is a great opportunity not just for young people who want to get some modelling experience, but also for brands who want to stay on the cutting edge,” says O’Connor.
