Adam Sandler is not the only talented artist in his family. His late great uncle, Harry Sandler, was an accomplished and well-known South Florida artist with numerous gallery showings to his credit. Now one of Sandler’s recently discovered paintings is up for sale on eBay
The current owner of the painting is the nephew of the late Bella Sandler, Harry Sandler’s wife of more than 60 years. The owner has sent an invitation to Adam to bid on the painting. “I know Adam Sandler has purchased several of Uncle Harry’s other paintings,” said the owner. “I’m not sure if he’s interested in this one but I’ve reached out to his agent and manager to make sure that he’s aware of its availability. In the meantime, this is a great way for Adam Sandler fans to own an authentic piece of Adam’s family legacy.”
The watercolor is of a young man playing a guitar and is signed by Adam’s uncle, Harry D. Sandler. The painting measures 16-1/2” x 18-3/4”. Matted and framed, the dimensions are 22-1/2” x 25”.
“Harry Sandler was an excellent artist and this is a really beautiful painting,” said one family member. “Uncle Harry painted this piece in the early 1970s when his skill as an artist was in full bloom.”
Sandler, who was extremely proud of his great nephew’s talent and success as an entertainer, passed away in 2005 at the age of 92. His artistic style has been compared to the watercolor work of Paul Cezanne. “The fluidity of his brushwork is extraordinary,” said Margaret Kessler. “As a painter I know how difficult it is to work with watercolors, and Sandler’s mastery of the medium is abundantly manifest in this particular piece.”
