The private house sale website The Little House Company predicts that the UK housing market will see a marked increase in home owners buying or selling directly without an estate agent in 2013.
The private house sale website states that changes in legislation and the need for consumers to save money buying or selling UK property will mean significant changes in the way people enter the housing market.

During 2012 The Little House Company made a significant contribution to a government consultation process led by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills. Several private house sale business models were potentially in breach of the law which restricted innovation and growth. Services such as offering to sell by social media, matching buyers and sellers, and erecting For Sale board all breached the Act. The government agreed that their was a need for innovation and relaxation of estate agent legislation.

The UK housing market has a small percentage of home owners selling directly with about 2% of vendors selecting a private sale. The Little House Company predict that the UK for sale by owner sector will see growth to 8% in 2013 based on 2012 increases.
With the average UK estate agents commission set at around 1.75% of the property value consumers stand to save money by using private house sale services.
