New Property Investment Opportunity in San Francisco – USA

TheMoveChannel.com, the leading international property portal, announces a number of new properties in San Francisco:

• Ghirardelli Square (£115,080, 1, 2, 3 bed apartments, situated near the vibrant San Francisco waterfont)

Properties in USA are unlikely to be an investment opportunity UK investors have considered in the past, so TheMoveChannel.com provides an overview of San Francisco.

1. Nob Hill

Nob Hill is a small district in San Francisco, adjacent to the intersection of Powell Street and California Street, which has the world’s last permanently operational manual cable car system.

An affluent neighbourhood, Nob Hill is sometimes sardonically referred to as ’Snob Hill’ due to its wealthy residents and nearby exclusive hotels.

Due to its incline and incredible views of the city, Nob Hill has featured in number of Hollywood films including the Alfred Hitchcock thriller; Vertigo and the car chase classic Bullitt, starring Steve McQueen.

The area was devastated by the 1906 earthquake and fire, which left a large portion of the city in need of re-building.

2. Shopping

San Francisco is renowned as a one of the world’s best shopping destinations, especially around Union Square, which houses six major department stores including Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s and Saks Fifth Avenue, as well as designer stores such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Gucci.

A few blocks away from Union Square is the Westfield San Francisco Centre, which is home to some of the world’s largest American chains, including a five-story Nordstrom’s and a two-level Abercrombie & Fitch.

And then there’s China Town, the oldest and largest of its kind outside of Asia. Chinatown offers a more bustling style of shopping with kitsch goods, carved Buddhas, authentic markets and fabulous inexpensive restaurants.

3. The Golden Gate Bridge

The Golden Gate Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Golden Gate strait and connects the city of San Francisco on the northern tip of the San Francisco Peninsula to Marin County.

This iconic structure is synonymous with the city and had longest suspension bridge span in the world when it was completed in 1937 and has become a famous and popular part of the city’s landscape.

4. Fisherman’s Wharf

Fisherman’s Wharf is a neighbourhood in San Francisco and was once home to a fleet of over 400 boats but nowadays it supplies only a small fraction of the fish served in the city’s restaurants.

Known for being the location of the popular shopping centre, Pier 39, San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park and Ghirardelli Square, nowadays this popular area is packed with tourists, souvenir shops and roadside seafood vendors.

One of the city’s most popular figures is a harmless but controversial resident of Fisherman’s Wharf called the World Famous Bushman, a local street performer who sits behind some branches and startles people who walk by. He has gained notoriety during the 28 years he has been doing this.

Dan Johnson, Managing Director, comments:

“San Francisco is a remarkable place; a city that exudes style and charisma, and once experienced it’s easy to leave your heart there.”
