Roy Roger’s Goddaughter Pens Novel Francesca of Lost Nation just Released

R

Feisty and leggy is how Roy Roger’s goddaughter describes her grandmother, Francesca of Lost Nation. Now you too can share in the adventures of this unconventional senior citizen who was a car race driver, learned to fly airplanes and helped catch a felon during the summer of 1947 on an apple farm in Iowa.

Ridgecrest, USA, June 21, 2010 — Francesca of Lost Nation is based on the author’s real grandmother – a remarkable woman for her day, or any day. Like the character in the novel, Francesca is a winning county fair race car driver:

Francesca had borrowed a scarf and some goggles. She managed to scrounge up trousers and a collared shirt. She’d entered the race as Francis, with an “i,” and the judges assumed she was a man. Of course, Grandpa knew differently.

“You a daredevil?” Francesca would get asked by those hearing this story.

“I can still taste the swirling dust as I revved the engine. It covered me like a curtain. It was marvelous. It was … the single greatest experience of my life.”

Francesca was also an amazing poker player; and the first woman in county to attend college. The real person and the fictional one were also known for having the best legs in the county.

All in all, Francesca’s real life, her unusual, eccentric and admirable persona made her the perfect catalyst for a book.

Now you too can share in the adventure of Francesca and her 10-year-old granddaughter Sarah. It’s a fun read and the first five chapters are available FREE online at: www.luckycinda.com.
