Russia Retail to Grow Modestly, Slowdown Easing Market: RNCOS

Despite the slowing economy and shrinking liquidity level, the retail sales in Russia grew by 14.1% to Ruble 12.4 Trillion during January-November 2008. However, retail sales growth declined to 8% during November to around Ruble 1.24 Trillion. But irrespective of declining growth rate, retail sales in Russia are anticipated to remain modest during 2008 and will not disappoint the industry players. Further, it is expected that the industry will be able to sustain the current growth level during 2009 and attain its past growth trajectory by the beginning of 2010.
