Samsung Galaxy Note v HTC Titan

Big is indeed beautiful in the world of smartphones and the Samsung Galaxy Note and HTC Titan are two of the biggest in the business.

The Samsung Galaxy Note runs the latest Android operating system, Gingerbread 2.3, while the HTC Titan is a Windows smartphone, part of the new HTC Windows Phone Mango smartphone range, running Windows 7.5.

The HTC Titan’s Mango operating system puts a huge emphasis on multi-tasking, making it an ideal choice for home or business users with a busy lifestyle.

You can switch effortlessly between play mode and work mode, answer an urgent message during the middle of playing a game, and listen to music while you’re working.

Because it’s a Windows phone, it is also readily compatible with Microsoft Office documents, so you can access all your important information on the go.

The Titan also has a large onscreen keyboard, which means that you can easily use it to edit your MS Office documents.

The Samsung Galaxy Note is also excellent for editing while on the go. It comes with the classic stylus technology of the original PDA, combined with all the cutting-edge features you would expect from a smartphone. The Note features the largest display of any smartphone, at 5.3 inches, and a special version of Touch Wiz, called S Pen. Among one of its most useful features is the To Do List, which uses this technology for great organisation ability.

The HTC Titan has a slightly smaller screen, but 4.7 inches is still quite sizeable and excellent to work or play on. The super LCD touch screen has a 480 x 800 resolution housed within a funky unibody design.

If you live a demanding lifestyle you’ll want a powerful processor to keep things running as they should be. The Samsung Galaxy Note has a 1.4GHz dual core processor and a whopping 16GB of built-in memory, which you can upgrade by a further 32GB via the microSD card slot. That’s more than ample space to store pictures, videos, music and the like.

There is 16GB of storage built-in to the HTC Titan too.

In terms of camera, the HTC Titan has an 8 megapixel camera with autofocus and dual LED flash, while the Samsung Galaxy Note has an 8 megapixel camera at the rear and a 2 megapixel front facing camera.

Clove Technology sells the Samsung Galaxy Note for £600 including VAT and the HTC Titan for £498 including VAT.
