Satirical Presidential Biographies Mix Fact and Fiction, Reveal Deeper Truths, Vivify History

S

What kind of a person gets elected president? What does this say about the real nature of politics in a democracy?

Truer Than True is composed of 44 satirical presidential biographies, mixing fact and fiction. This new book is a deconstruction of officially sanctioned presidential narratives.

Described by educator Dr. Jean Keller (formerly Dean of Education at the University of North Texas) as an innovative and effective tool for teaching history. Truer Than True was published as an ebook on July 4. The print version is scheduled for an October release.

Plutarch Vico, the reputed author of Truer Than True, was allegedly born in 1776 to a family breeding for longevity. Vico, descended from two prominent biographers, was influenced by Plato, especially this thought: ?Where politicians restrict reality to money and influence, philosophers must go to the center of things?to the soul?s passion for justice and love.?

Vico claims to have personally known every American president. This alone makes one aware his work might include at least a smidge of fiction?a useful tool for burrowing his biographies of the 43 American presidents into a more revealing analytical core and, therefore, providing insights ?truer than true.?

Here?s an excerpt from the chapter on George Washington:

?A mother of a looter wrote: ?I don?t know why you had to shoot another one of my sons. I started out with eight. Now the count?as best I can reckon from a distance?is five. I?ve birthed another lately, but, Mr. Washington, sir, you?re gaining on me. Haven?t you ever heard of a maximum security stockade? Well, what?s done is done, and I hope at least you cooked up his meat. Our family is known for its ribs and I know your good boys don?t have near enough to eat.??
