SBS Worldwide appoints Christian Marz as Director of Operations

SBS Worldwide has appointed Christian Marz as Director of Operations USA.

The appointment supports the group’s global growth strategy to drive expansion in new and existing industry verticals while unifying all divisions and offices under one operating platform to streamline its global supply chain process.

Christian will be based at SBS Worldwide’s Chicago office and will report directly to USA Managing Director Lars Kloch.

SBS Worldwide Chairman Steve Walker said: “Christian’s competence and expertise covering a variety of industry and service verticals will significantly enhance our ability to deliver further expansion and capitalize on the quality of our supply chain solutions.”

Christian has a wide range of experience in the shipping and logistics industry.

He began his career in 1989 working for a freight forwarder in South Africa, prior to taking a degree in the wholesale distribution industry in Germany.

In 1995, Christian joined a leading European freight forwarder to lead its automotive group, working on various projects around the world.

He later moved to the company’s Chicago office to help drive growth opportunities in all aspects of its forwarding business and enhance operational excellence.

Between 2000 and 2002, Christian found the time to explore other opportunities and became the founder and CFO of Comapp GmbH (a Mobile solution Company) which allowed him to indulge his entrepreneurial spirit and develop his IT processing and programming knowledge.

Christian then returned to his previous company to take on the role of Regional Operations Manager in Chicago, overlooking several offices in the Midwest.

In 2007, he became Director of Operations for another leading freight forwarder at its headquarters in Chicago, where he had global responsibility for various offices and Agents.

Christian is married and has a baby girl who is 4 months old and in his spare time enjoys various sporting activities.
