Many people think that t shirt printing is much of a complicated process. This is further from the reality. As a matter of fact, it’s a task that even little kids can perform in just a matter of an hour and finish their custom t shirts once class is dismissed. All it requires is to think about a design and gather all the materials needed for the project.
You will require an embroidery hoop or rectangular frame for the supplies. See to it that the frame size is enough for the design size. Craft stores sell these materials for only an affordable price. Next, is to look for a cloth material such as a chiffon cloth or maybe a silk screen. However, selecting tulle may not be a good decision considering that holes of this kind of cloth are large enough to cause design smearing. Be sure that you find a cloth material thin enough to allow the paint to pour through very easily.
You can choose different types of paints; latex can be used but they are rather washable. Look for cloth paint which are permanent. They are available in various textures and colors. The you would also use a rubber scraper to spread the paint so it could stick to the tshirt. This tool will see to it that the paint layer is thin enough to dry up quick so it will adhere to the t shirt. You need a rubber scraper for without it, your paint might not be evenly spread out therefore you could ruin the whole design.
Now, for you design, look for a blank paper and draw or print out the design which you want. For amateurs, come up with a design which only has 2 colors. As you become more experienced in t shirt printing, you can choose whatever designs you want which can come with multiple colors. Next is to get a stencil and place it over your design then you have to cut it in accordance to the frame size. If your design has 2 colors you may need to have 2 frames as well-one for each color.
Cut out your stencil designs carefully and make sure the second color parts are left off. As for the second color, cut out just the part which has the corresponding color and ignore the other parts. Place one or two newspapers inside the shirt. Place these on a flat surface and tape the shirt so it does not move around when t shirt printing. Adjust the newspaper under the shirt where the design is to be printed on ensuring there are no wrinkles on the shirt surface. Then you put the stencil to the area where you need the design and place the screen on top of the design. With only a small amount of paint, run the paint with the scraper in a single motion. Do this once more. Slowly lift the stencil and the screen off. Then air-dry the shirt. That is it!
