The Vermont Ski Museum is pleased to announce the 6th Annual Stowe Mountain Film Festival. Held in the outdoor paradise of Stowe, Vermont, this eagerly anticipated event is a week-long celebration of mountain sports and culture.
Stowe, VT, November 22, 2008 — Each year, the newest releases from the ski/snowboard film industry’s top production companies, along with submissions from promising amateur filmmakers converge on the Green Mountains. The result is 7 days of adrenaline-pumping action, stunning cinematography and intense documentaries that are sure to whet your appetite for the coming winter season.

“Intrepid Descent” captures the classic backcountry skiing experience of Tuckerman Ravine on Mount Washington in New Hampshire. The documentary explores the rich history of the ravine, which has been home to triumph and tragedy since the early 1920’s.
Focusing on all aspects of the ascent and decent, “The Wish List” is more than just another film with line after line, jump after jump scenes. Featuring clips from Crested Butte, British Columbia, Montana, Utah, Wyoming and scenes from all over Colorado, this film shows the joy, the sweat, the love, and dedication involved in chasing dreams and fulfilling The Wish List.

The feature-length documentary spans over 25 years and follows snowboarding biggest icon and World Champion Craig Kelly from his early rides as a Mt. Baker Hardcore all the way to his final days and the events that lead him to his death with six others in an avalanche in January 2003 while studying to become the first accredited mountain guide on a snowboard.

“600†highlights some of the banner 2007/08 winter for a cadre of devoted Jackson Hole skiers and riders. 600†captures some of the excitement of last winter, remembered among even longtime Jackson Hole skiers as one of the best since the mountain resort began attracting diehards more than 40 years ago.

Cecile Cusin, young French Filmmaker, submitted her first short film “Islenska, on the road to unearth Iceland’s secrets” to the Festival. She takes the viewer on an adventure across Iceland.
“The Pact” is born of early mornings, deep trail breaking, frostbite, sunrises, worn meniscus, close calls, and countless faceshots. In the end, it’s about commitment to untracked snow and those who have chosen to break that trail.
“The Fine Line”, directed by Calgary-raised Dave Mossop, this scenically jaw-dropping film mixes Warren Miller-like scenes that will make skiers and snowboarders salivate with sobering tales from avalanche survivors. Mossop also mixes in a dramatic re-enactment of a tragic 1997 avalanche at Fortress Mountain.
