Your skin covers our bodies surface area and it is continuous with all the mucous membrane on the origin and termination of the alimentary canal at the opening of other canals. Your skin is a defensive coat, a regulator of body’s temperature, contains multitudes with the terminations of sensory nerves, and is the seat of the organ of touch (organon tactus). These nerve terminations are linked to nerve fibers of heat, pressure, and soreness. Linked to the skin are sweat glands that have essential excretory functions and sebaceous glands. From its superficial part come appendages, the hairs as well as the nails. The skin is elastic and varies in thickness from 0.5mm to 4mm. It is thinnest in the eyelids and prepuce, and thickest on the back from the neck, back shoulders, palms of the hands, and soles from the feet. Its color depends simply on the blood inside, and in part upon pigment. The deepest tone is about the anus, inside the genital region, within the axillae, over the mammary glands, plus the parts confronted with air, light, and varied temperatures. The colour varies as we grow old, being pinkish in extreme youth and becoming yellow in senior years. It varies with exposure along with climate, being deepest in those who brave all weathers and temperatures plus people who dwell beneath a tropical sun. Additionally, it varies with race, which is so well recognized that races are listed in the color on the skin in to the Black, White, Yellow, and Brown races.
EPITHELIUM
The epithelium may be the layer of cells that forms the skin and the surface layer of mucous membranes. It may serve as protection; it absorbs and secretes substances through the ducts of the skin. The epithelium also produces germ cells and receives stimuli. There’s an extraordinary power to regenerate.
EPIDERMIS
The skin is the top layer of your skin, the one over the dermis. The skin provides the covering that protects against the “outside.” The sweat glands open to the epidermis, just like the sebaceous glands.
SKIN
Skin: it’s that which you are in. It is your birthday suit, your altogether. Technically, your skin is the outer or external covering from the body. It’s essentially consists of two layers, the skin and the dermis. Together they form a protective cover for the surfaces of the body.
The epidermis is the outer layer. Beneath it will be the dermis, which is formed of ligament which contains the nerves and nerve endings, the blood vessels, the sweat glands, as well as the elastic fibers.
The skin protects your body against injury and against parasitic invasions. It regulates your body temperature, it prevents dehydration, it stores food and water, it aids elimination, and it’s also the source of vitamin D. Besides most of these, it’s the organ of the sense of touch.
Take better care of it-it’s the only one you’ve got!
Using an appropriate facial cream can help.
