Social discovery app Jingu Friends launches on iOS

Jingu Friends, an app for finding mobile chat mates, today launched an iOS version for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

The launch to Apple devices is a follow-up to the successful BlackBerry version of Jingu Friends. Released in May 2011, the BlackBerry app has been downloaded more than a million times. Users send 3.5 million messages monthly.

With Jingu Friends, users can find like-minded people around the globe, in their country or locally in their city to start conversations and share photos. All messages posted on Jingu Friends are public, but users can take their conversations private through seamless integration into smartphone messaging apps like BBM, Hookt, WhatsApp and Kik.

?With our BlackBerry version, we very quickly saw that users love discovering new people to chat with on BBM,? said Hossam Bahlool, co-founder of Jingu. ?The same desire exists on Kik, WhatsApp and other messaging apps. Jingu Friends is the only app that helps you make new connections across these mobile technologies.?

The app?s Lounge area immediately drops you into a global conversation stream where you can listen or participate. If you see a message you like, a swipe of the screen powered by Jingu?s patent-pending Peel a Layer feature instantly reveals additional information about a person and the mobile messaging apps they have installed.

?We know it?s ambitious, but we?re trying to break down the barriers to finding like-minded people to talk to,? said Bahlool. ?It?s a profound social change that moves us closer to a true global village.?
