Surveyors Group is proud to announce the launch of its new party wall website designed to cater for home owners and construction firms alike.

London, UK, November 19, 2008 — With the trend nowadays to build extensions and loft spaces onto our homes it is becoming an increasing problem when you, or your neighbour, faces the prospect of having significant work done to the party wall (shared wall) between your respective properties.

Many people are just simply unaware that there is legislation in place to deal with this problem in the form of the Party Wall Act 1996, thereby helping to resolve these issues without needing to involve solicitors and initiate court proceedings when things turn sour.

Surveyors Group employs specialist party wall surveyors whose primary role is to conduct an initial party wall survey, whereupon the building plans are inspected, a schedule of condition is prepared of the adjoining owner’s party wall so that, in the event of any damage occurring, there is a proper record of prior condition.

Once the survey has been carried out a party wall agreement (party wall award) is drawn up and served to both property owners.

William Blake had this to say, “I feel that especially in the current ‘where there’s blame, there’s a claim’ climate it is important to take the time to seek professional advice regarding any construction work you intend to carry out on your home, since the wrong choice could quite easily result in a large compensation claim, and in the current economic climate people can ill afford this situation.”

Surveyors Group are regularly appointed as party wall surveyors both where a Building Owner wishes to carry out building, excavation works and/or where an Adjoining Owner has received notice of the intention of the Building Owner’s works.
