1. Be it real or artificial, ensure the Christmas tree you choose has full green foliage, and take your time to arrange the branches prior to decorating.
2. Check your fairy lights to make sure they still work before positioning them on the tree, then starting at the top, place them on the tree. Look at your tree with the lights switched on and off to make sure you are happy with their positioning. As a rough guide, we recommend an average of 30 lights per foot of tree.
3. Next, choose your colour scheme. For each of our themes we generally choose 3 colours which include an accent colour.
4. As a general rule allow 10 decorations per foot of tree.
5. For each decoration always work in odd numbers of 3, 5 or 7 to help keep that design feel!
6. Wrap the ribbon or cord from your baubles and hanging decorations around the branches to keep them tight to the tree.
7. Be bold and place a few oversized Christmas decorations on your tree; it really helps to give it that extra dimension as well as fill those few empty spaces!
8. Instead of tinsel this Christmas why not use pretty lengths of ribbon or decorative garlands in one of your chosen colours, to enhance your tree.
9. When it comes to tree toppers – be inventive! There’s so much more to choose from than the usual fairy! Why not make your tree more personal by designing your own, using wired ribbon or flowers.
