Designed to equip school administrators, educators, school social workers, school counselors, school psychologists, parents, youth workers, child care workers, and anyone else who works with children, with the skills and tools geared to minimize bullying and school violence, this conference addresses:

– Characteristics or attributes that make specific children capable of bullying others or become a target for bullying.
– How emotional problems affect children.
– The role of the self-esteem and its affect on bullying.
– How body and verbal language impacts on bullying.
– The effects of Bullying.
– How the term ‘standing up for oneself’ and ‘tattling’ has been redefined in our society.
– Managing and attending to child misbehavior.
– Developing an effective behavior management program by developing rules, consequences, and a token economy system.
– Specific communication skills that motivates and encourages compliance in children.
– Effectively integrating social and conflict resolution skills.
– Empowering children who are victimized by bullying.
– Teaching compromising and negotiating skills to resolve conflicts.
– Using non-physical de-escalation techniques in crisis situations.
– Applying self-defense techniques.
– Recognizing and preventing burnout.
