Our life-changing events. We can picture them clearly in our minds. Like photographs of lightning, these moments are kept forever within an album of our experience.

Thunder follows lightning, and so it is with life. With every flash of change, comes the long-winded rumble of consequence. Unavoidable.

‘The Tearful Assassin’ portrays the shocking abduction of a teenage girl from her home and the aftermath of her loved ones left behind. As two detectives piece together the puzzle, the family struggles between hope, anger, resentment and acceptance of the possibility of a future without a daughter. And the daughter herself struggles with the possibility of having no future whatsoever.

This relentless and uncompromising play, making its world premiere at Chicago’s Gorilla Tango Theater, explores the very nature of goodbyes and what comes after.
