Top of the Props – USA Continues to Attract Interest

T

Despite ongoing trauma in the US property market, interest in the country from visitors to TheMoveChannel.com has kept a steady pace over the last month, maintaining its position at number one in our Top of the Props chart.

A look at the land of the brave

For the property investor seeking favourable market conditions in a historically robust marketplace, look no further than the USA.

Despite, or perhaps because of, the recent market slowdown, there are still many buyers interested in purchasing American property and it is still considered by many to be a lucrative form of investment.

An advantage of the slower market is that prices are being held steady or falling, which gives new investors a perfect opportunity to buy into the market.

Properties in the USA should be chosen in optimum rental locations in and around main tourist attractions to maximise returns. Florida and Las Vegas are year round destinations offering strong rental potential and their buy-to-let markets are extremely popular with Britons.

Dan Johnson, Director of TheMoveChannel.com, said, “There is still a lot of distressed investor stock in the USA, and while much of it is not that glamorous, prices have fallen to a level that many now believe represent real value.

“Lending is still very tight, but for cashed up portfolio investors, it’s now possible to acquire some high yielding assets very cheaply.

“This renewed interest could represent a positive sentiment towards a US recovery in the new year, which could lead the way for the rest of the world,” added Mr Johnson.

Peering at Portugal

In second place on our Top of the Props chart is Portugal, which moved up four places to take silver.

The World Trade Organisation has recently conducted research that found Portugal has been witnessing a significant growth in tourist numbers. Newly released figures show that tourist numbers grew by 10 per cent last year.

Thus, rental potential on an investment property in Portugal could be very strong.

The Algarve still reigns supreme as the top British choice of destination in Portugal, and the brand new Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimao, is expected to lure in an extra million visitors each year.

Portugal is also a hugely popular golf destination, with the Algarve recently hosting one of the of the most important golf tournaments in the PGA European Tour, the Portugal Masters.

Uncovering the UAE

The UAE moved up one place to claim bronze. Away from the more mainstream Dubai property market, in Abu Dhabi, prices have virtually doubled in twelve months.

And at this stage in the cycle Abu Dubai property is still on a strong upward path.

It is a stage in which investors can still reap handsome rewards, if not exactly as much as the pioneering investors who got in on the action a year ago.
