Since 2001 TopSavings.Net had the scheme of red, white, and orange for it’s pages. While the scheme may not seem anything out of the ordinary the overhaul has long been overdue says Aaron Siegel, owner and proprietor of the site.
“We are going through the process of changing the color scheme to yellow, green, and white which I feel will update the appearance to a more modern look”, says Siegel. “We also are adding an improved menu for navigation and more diverse pages for products.”
The decision made by Siegel to make the changes to TopSavings.Net were motivated by a slow 2008 for it’s offerings on business telecommunication products. “We had more technical text than actual sales copy and we had very few images to our site. I am hoping that by making some visual changes that we can appeal more to our customers when they visit.”
With a lime green and yellow DHTML menu and a dark green and yellow body, there is no telling whether the design will be readily accepted by the Internet population. “Time will only tell. I am confident that the new design will create better conversions than before, but like I said, we will see”, says a hopeful Siegel.
The process will be slow due to the fact that Siegel manages the entire site himself by hand. With over 300 pages to deal with, we shouldn’t expect to see immediate changes overnight. Siegel says he prefers HTML so when changes are made to TopSavings.Net it is on a grand page by page scale. TopSavings.Net does have some products in PHP such as their cell phones, but the majority of the site remains in simple HTML and Siegel plans to keep it that way.
When asked if the new online shopping mall would soon become available, Siegel mentioned and reminded us that the process takes time, but promises to have it completed and ready for the holiday season of 2009.
