Training Management Benchmarking Tool Upgrade Now Released

Business software firm Business Performance P/L this week announced the release of the third edition of their training practices assessment guide and tools for measuring and improving an organization’s learning capability.

Melbourne, Australia, August 11, 2008 – Benchmarking the training function is getting increased focus in organizations today as they clamor for a dwindling supply of skilled and fickle workers. Smart organizations are realizing that building a capable and motivated workforce is the new competitive lever in the modern economy. The new edition of Business Performance P/L’s training benchmarking pack released this week is designed to give organizations a boost in this mission critical area.

The newly revised benchmarking pack builds on the previous version by providing more comprehensive help for organizations wanting to evaluate their training capability. The Training Management Maturity Model’s unique approach to improving the training function is based on four phases of improvement. These stages in building the training function are: (i) develop effective training administration processes; (ii) ensure the quality of delivered training programs; (iii) formulate training plans linked to the organization’s strategy; and (iv) focus on measurable organizational, team and individual performance.

Vicki Heath, Director of Business Performance P/L, explains how the Training Management Maturity Model’s phased approach works for organizations: “Each of the four stages of improvement sets a Primary Objective and contains a set of Key Practices and Key Performance Indicators for that Level. The assessor uses the supplied assessment guide and form to determine the extent to which each Key Practice is utilized at each level. The analysis tools provided within the pack then allow the assessor to determine at which maturity level the organizations sits. An improvement plan with action items addressing shortfalls is then forged with the key stakeholders.”

Heath went on to add, “The most important part of the assessment is not the number that drops out at the end of the assessment, but the answers to the probing questions prompted by the Maturity Model. The greatest benefit from the assessment comes from the genuine discussions amongst the key stakeholders in response to the assessment questions about what is important and what is being achieved and missed. In many instances, a light will turn on, signaling a change in direction for the better.”

The benchmarking pack includes everything an organization needs to conduct an evaluation, including assessment and reporting guide, customizable assessment form and analysis and reporting sheets. The assessment form and analysis and reporting worksheet are reusable and fully customizable. They are supplied as common Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel files. The package can be used on any Microsoft Windows-based PC with Word and Excel installed. The guide is supplied as an Adobe Acrobat PDF file. Adobe Acrobat PDF files are readable on almost any computer. The Adobe Acrobat Reader is available as a free download from the Adobe website.

Business Performance P/L has made available the Maturity Model Wall Chart as a free download. The complimentary download and the full package are available from the Business Performance P/L website at www.businessperform.com/html/training_systems.html
