TRANSMEDIA SF ANNOUNCES FIRST TRANSMEDIA JAM WEEKEND

30 Hour Event Brings Together Creative and Technology Communities to Experiment and Produce Transmedia Stories

San Francisco, CA — July 9, 2012 — Transmedia SF, a growing community of creatives and tech producers, announced the agenda, judges and sponsors for its first ever Transmedia Jam, taking place in San Francisco the weekend of July 20-21, 2012.   This event marks the first createathon for Transmedia producers and will bring together developers, filmmakers, writers, designers and the transmedia curious.

â??This will be a great event to experiment with ideas, take creative risks, and discover new collaborators,â? said Justin Oliphant, one of the organizers of the event and a co-founder of Transmedia SF. â??Transmedia storytelling is still in its earliest days and with events like this, we hope to provide an inspiring and fun environment for our community to take this art to the next level.â?

“The Transmedia SF group and Turner’s Media Camp have common goals of helping entrepreneurs build innovative media businesses,â? said David Austin, Senior Director, Media Camp at Turner Broadcasting, and judge for the Transmedia Jam. â??I’m excited to be involved in the first Transmedia Jam to see collaboration on new platforms, new media methods and accelerated creativity in a single weekend.”

â??We are happy to host the first Transmedia Jam at our San Francisco office,â? said Jason Deadrich, CEO and Founder of Fordela, a provider of Cloud media storage and streaming that is a key sponsor of the Jam. â??Our team is excited to have the growing transmedia community experimenting with the form and pushing it and our platform to new uses.â? Fordelaâ??s technology allows content owners the ability to safely and securely stream everything from short form videos to feature length films to 3D tablets, computers and smartphones around the world.

The Transmedia Jam is a weekend long event on July 20th-21st, intended for people to play with media, platforms and new ways of storytelling. In the spirit of Game Jams, Hackathons and the 48 Hour Film project, the Transmedia Jam will bring together storytellers of all stripes to create new transmedia projects from start to finish in the same weekend.  Participants will join collaborative groups and projects handed in at the end of the Jam (10:00pm on Saturday night) will be reviewed by a panel of expert judges including Jason Deadrich, CEO and Founder of Fordela, David Austin, Senior Director of the Media Camp at Turner Broadcasting, and Steve Klett, Online Manger and Evangelist at NVIDIA. Mentors who are media and transmedia experts will also be available all weekend long to guide and assist the creative process.

The event will be held from 6:00pm -1:00am on Friday and 8:00am -10:00pm on Saturday in at the offices of Fordela in SFâ??s North Beach neighborhood.
