Auckland, NZ, October 15, 2011 — A new book being released this year will set a new standard in travel safety advice for travellers. The book, Travel Safety: Safety Tips For Personal And Corporate Travellers, is being co-written by two New Zealanders, Craig Bidois and Craig Martin.

“We are doing something completely different, says Craig Bidois. “Nothing I’ve seen talks about these topics in a way that’s this useful and in-depth, while being written for everyday travellers.”

As well as covering general safety advice such as crossing international borders and avoiding street crime, the book will cover topics such as kidnapping, terrorist attacks and responding to natural disasters.

“As I travelled around the world training UN security forces, I often bumped into intrepid civilian travellers who popped up in some of the strangest situations. Many of them were asking me for advice on safety and security. Inspired by them, this book is for anyone who wants to travel.”

The book will contain true stories from the authors; experiences and advice and best practices professionally developed by expert security consultants. However, both authors are quick to stress travel is generally safe.

Having some travel safety knowledge will lessen the risks involved in travel. We must not let the bad guys win with their campaign of fear. It is safe to travel, just have the right information and a plan, says Craig Bidois.

In a departure from traditional methods, Travel Safety will be released as a purely digital product.

We’re excited by changes in publishing technologies that allow us to give our customers more, said co-author Craig Martin, whose company Indie Travel Media Ltd will be publishing the book.

“As well as written documents, we can offer video interviews from experts and travellers, as well as downloadable audio files that people can listen to from any computer. We give our readers a lot of value and, with Travel Safety, that might just save lives.”
