Firefighters, Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Teams, and all those interested in the lives and lifesaving careers of these extraordinary “first responders” will find innovative and unique services on www.myrescueteam.com/. The mission of the site is to explore all aspects of firefighting and the work of EMS paramedics who risk their lives for the public’s protection every day. Included on the site are related photos, articles, the latest firefighting and EMS news, and many other services.

My Rescue Team’s webmaster describes the site as a one-stop resource for firefighters, paramedics and other rescue workers. Visitors to the site will find information on firefighting and EMS equipment, schools and training, quizzes, tattoos, and a stunning photo gallery of structure and wilderness fires, car accidents, and EMS photos that demonstrate the challenges faced by emergency personnel and their tireless efforts to save lives, the environment and property. The site even offers a single firefighters’ dating service.

Some of the most valuable sections of My Rescue Team are the discussion forums for firefighters and EMTs. Moderated by Margaret Kohut, MSW, Principal of Rocky Mountain Way Freelance Writing, and a retired crisis-oriented therapist, the forums give these emergency first responders the chance to discuss their difficult jobs, their often-strained personal lives, and the stress that comes from coping with tragic events. “I’ve been trained in Critical Incident Stress Management for more than ten years and have debriefed first responders of all types,” said Kohut. “In 2004, a firefighter and EMT saved my life in a vehicle accident that could easily have been fatal if not for them. I never even knew their names. Moderating these forums are my way of thanking first responders for all the lives they save, mine included.”

In addition to the discussion forums, the site includes a volunteer forum, hiring and employment discussions, and discussions about the articles posted on My Rescue Team. All emergency personnel are invited to visit the site, as well as citizens who have stories to tell about the impact of firefighters and EMS personnel in their lives. My Rescue Team is of particular interest to those considering a career in firefighting or EMS. “I just want to show our appreciation for their hard work,” said the site’s webmaster and developer.
