United States Black Golfers Association, A New Golfing Platform

Nationwide – April 8, 2008 – The United States Black Golfers Association (USBGA), a member-based organization based in Smyrna, Georgia and headquartered in Tampa, Florida will make its debut on April 15, 2008. The USBGA was founded in 2007 out of a desire to provide a unified, member-oriented entity, whose members could play the game of golf on a beginners, semiprofessional, and professional level. USBGA will create a dual system that matches the Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA®) by creating the USBGA Championship Tour.

Since Americans began playing golf in the late 1890s, Blacks have been instrumental in the development of the sport. Minority golfers now represent one of the fastest growing economic segments in the golfing industry; however, they have been traditionally overlooked by golfing portals, as well as the golfing industry at large.

“By creating the USBGA, we’ll orchestrate a solid platform that will attract the minority golfers who have a desire to compete above the enjoyment of the game. Tiger (Woods) is undoubtedly the best golfer that has ever played the game. However, in this sport, there are other minority golfers who can hold their own in this game as well. We are here to give them a major platform to do just that,” explains USBGA’s President, S. E. Day

USBGA not only offers its members a national platform to begin and/or compete in the sport, but also offers exclusive membership benefits where members will receive savings of up to 50% on everything from clubs and balls to lessons to plays, as well as discounts on hotels, travel and a host of other amenities.

For $99 a year, USBGA members will be able to play and enjoyed the game of golf at over 3300 courses in the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, and a number of countries abroad while enjoying significant savings at golf courses, resorts, driving ranges, lessons, stay-and-play and vacation packages, as well as, car rentals, dining, and shopping.
