Vampt Beverage Corp. to Back Horse Jumping Team of Capone and King

The Vampt Beverage Corp. agreed to sponsor Kyle King and his mount Capone after meeting the pair and hearing about the lengthy custody battle that separated the team and left Capone neglected and abused. The partnership, between two tenacious fighters, is a fitting one.

?The horse almost died but it had a spirit of survival that is similar to Vampt?s ongoing efforts to break into the malt beverage market in Canada and the US,? said Vampt Founder Ian Toews. ?This is a genuine love story about a winning show jumping team with undeniable chemistry.?

King and Capone were enjoying a successful show jumping career when a bitter custody battle led to a three-year separation. During that time, Capone was kidnapped, neglected, and ridden bareback over the Canadian mountains and into the United States.

Eventually, Capone was returned to Canadian owner Corinne Super, who nursed him back to health and returned him to King, who was never able to replicate the chemistry he had with Capone.

?Riding other horses was like being sent back to the minors after playing in the NHL,? King said. ?I never enjoyed the success I did with Capone and neither did the riders who rode him during those three years.?

Capone and King are scheduled to compete at the Spruce Meadows Masters Tournament September 5 ? 9, 2012, where they will be emblazoned with Vampt’s unique logo and the tag line “Never Follow, Always Lead.” If the event goes well, Capone and King will walk about with the $1 million purse.

?I am excited about this partnership and looking forward to seeing this winning pair represent our brand and our philosophy, which is to Never Follow and Always Lead,? Toews said.
