Vilebrequin has been outfitting men and boys with colorful swim trunks and accessories for 40 years. To commemorate this important anniversary, 2011 brings the introduction of a limited edition swimsuit highlighting the company’s most memorable prints from over the years.
The unique patchwork design reflects some of Vilebrequin’s most iconic and beloved themes and motifs. Colored with pastel shades, the salamanders meet the pelicans and kangaroos, and the fruits and flowers are side by side…the sea turtle, insignia of the brand and the original logo created in the seventies, comes together with the starfish and jellyfish to create the patchwork and a stunning visual combination, capturing the essence of Vilebrequin. In order to produce the richness of the colors on the 100% Polyamide fabric, this style is printed using an inkjet photography technique.
The swimsuit is fashioned in the classic Moorea cut – the original Vilebrequin style from the 70’s. Other signature touches are the vintage engraved Zamac tips on the 100% cotton cord drawstring and exclusive 100% cotton inner brief lining.
Launched when the founder designed the first pair of swim trunks from a checkered tablecloth at Café Sénéquier in the port in St. Tropez in 1971, Vilebrequin (French for “crankshaft”) quickly found its place in the world of luxury.
