Saving water can benefit you and your home in many ways. If your family takes baths regularly take a shower instead. Taking a shower instead of bath will save up to 400 litres of water a week.

Dripping bathroom taps can waste up to 90 litres of water a week,  this will eventually add up to a lot of water wastage over time. Over a period of a month this will then waste approximately 360 litres of water. Do not shower any longer then necessary, limit your showers time to minutes rather than hours.

Changing habits of a lifetime can be difficult to change so work as a family to correct these habits. Simple changes such as turning off the tap whilst brushing your teeth can make a huge difference. Put the plug in the basin when washing or shaving this will reduce water wastage.

Dual flush cisterns give the user a dual choice which means it can use less water if required. In the UK it is a problem that many homes use the toilet as a bin. Flushing make up wipes and other items not only causes drainage problems it wastes water.

Take care of plumbing in your bathroom make sure that it is installed correctly to avoid leaks and water escaping. Consider a water meter as well which will help you monitor the amount of water used in the bathroom. Improved water control can be achieved by having single lever handles on the bathroom taps and eco friendly showers which offer precise water consumption.
