Known for Acoustic Cover of OutKast’s “Hey Ya”, Valley Musician Obadiah Parker to Perform October 21 and 28.
Tempe, AZ, October 21, 2011 — YouTube sensation Obadiah Parker, known for its cover of OutKast’s “Hey Ya”, which was featured on the show “Scrubs” and has been viewed almost 8 million times on YouTube, will perform at College Dropouts on October 21 and 28.
A college hangout for students and college football fans since 2008, College Dropouts is famously known for inventing the popular “Drinkin’ with Lincoln” penny draft beer specials that quickly were copied by other Tempe establishments. College Dropouts is conveniently located across the street from ASU’s Sun Devil Stadium.
“It’s a great location,” said owner Kevin Jones. “We’re so close to Sun Devil Stadium the building rocks every time ASU scores. You can’t get closer to the stadium without a ticket.”
The rock will come from Obadiah Parker on October 21 and 28, which earlier this year released the album “The Siren and The Saint.” It was the latest milestone for a band that has had a meteoric rise. In 2007, Obadiah Parker’s “Hey Ya” was named one of the year’s Top 10 selling singer-songwriter singles by iTunes. In 2008, the song was featured as a question on the hit game show “Jeopardy!” as well as on “The Howard Stern Show.” In 2009, the song was featured on the hit TV show “Scrubs” starring Zach Braff.
“We’re very excited to have Obadiah Parker perform at College Dropouts,” said Jones about the acoustic concerts, scheduled to run from 10:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. “The shows are sure to be standing-room only.”
Located within walking distance from Arizona State University’s Sun Devil Stadium and Wells Fargo Arena, College Dropouts is a first stop for many after-game revelers looking to celebrate an ASU Sun Devils victory. The bar is also within walking distance of ASU student housing and downtown Tempe.
Daily happy hour specials at College Dropouts run from 4 to 7 p.m. and include $5 Running Nakeds, $4 Q Bombs, $3 Long Island Iced Teas, $2 PBRs and $1 off drafts. The bar has 2-for-1 drink specials on Friday nights, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., live music on Saturdays, too, and a 25 percent discount for industry professionals all day Sundays.
