‘Pinfluence’ Focuses on the Top Local Las Vegas Photographers’ Lenses on the Sensual

Jennifer Maupin and Ryan Reason seduce viewers with juxtaposing visions of alluring subjects

Neither Jennifer Maupin nor Ryan Reason are strangers to their respective photography being laid bare for public consumption. But “bare” will take on a whole new meaning when the fruits of their latest collective labors greet guests to Alios (1217 S. Main St.) in May, with the opening of “Pinfluence,” their first collaborative show.

Featuring a total of 20 large-scale, limited-edition prints — 10 from each artist — “Pinfluence” explores the inherent and sometimes unexpected sensuality of the photographs’ subjects. Maupin builds on the repertoire she’s developed over the years with the classic pin-up aesthetic, focusing on subjects deeply mired in the burlesque and retro subcultures. Meanwhile, Reason chose from his eclectic base of friends and acquaintances for subject matter, working his lens to draw out their most seductive charms.

“Pinfluence” will open with an invite-only reception on April 28 from 6 to 9 p.m., featuring an installation allowing guests to create a unique memory of the evening, and then to the general public on May 5 and 6 from 6 to 10 p.m. for Preview Thursday and First Friday. Alios is located at 1217 S. Main St., less than a block south of Charleston Boulevard, next to Retro Vegas.
