Articulon Continues Partnership with The Magnificent Mile
Strengthens Commitment to Cause-Based Organizations
RALEIGH, N.C. (May 28, 2010)—For a second consecutive year, brand communication and PR firm Articulon (www.articulon.com) has been selected as agency of record for The Magnificent Mile (www.magmilerace.com), a fundraising event that includes one-mile runs and walks. Proceeds from The Magnificent Mile benefit the Spastic Paraplegia Foundation and fund research grants awarded to find a cure for upper motor neuron diseases.
Articulon is managing marketing and public relations efforts for the fifth annual event scheduled for September 19, 2010 in downtown Raleigh. In 2009, participation increased by 70 percent to a record 803 people, helping raise nearly $50,000.

“The Articulon team played a key role in driving record participation for last year’s event,” says Sarah Roberts-Witt, founder and inspiration behind The Magnificent Mile. “We are excited to work with them again as we strive to increase awareness of motor neuron disease.”
Articulon remains committed to helping nonprofit organizations promote their initiatives. Through its Cause and Sport Practice Area, the team helps connect charitable causes with generous supporters through endurance sports and other entertaining venues. This has proven to maximize both public awareness and fundraising success. In addition to The Magnificent Mile, Articulon has partnered with Special Olympics North Carolina, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities, MS Events, The National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Eastern North Carolina Chapter and The National Kidney Foundation of North Carolina.

“The Magnificent Mile offers a healthy opportunity to support programs that directly improve the lives of those living with motor neuron diseases,” says Cindy Stranad, Articulon principal. “We’re proud to help in raising awareness of this event and the Spastic Paraplegia
Foundation.”
The Magnificent Mile includes men’s and women’s competitive one-mile races that serve as the USATF North Carolina State one-mile championship. In addition, it offers a one-mile recreational run/walk and kids’ races. This event is the first of the eight-race Second Empire Grand-Prix Fall Series. Registration is open at www.sportoften.com/events/eventDetails.cfm?pEventId=5898.

About The Magnificent Mile:
Sarah Roberts-Witt, co-founder and inspiration behind The Magnificent Mile, was an avid runner and marathoner until developing primary lateral sclerosis in 2004. She is now confined to a wheelchair and unable to speak, but the disease hasn’t stopped her. Since her diagnosis, she has dedicated her time to trying to find a cure one step at a time. This race combines her love of running with her desire to find a cure for motor neuron disease. Since 2006, The Magnificent Mile races have raised more than $150,000 to fund research grants awarded by the Spastic Paraplegia Foundation to help find a cure to motor neuron disease.
