ASEAN-BAC Chairman, Dr.Doan Duy Khuong, urged ASEAN businesses “to take advantage of the GCEL Program to help ASEAN capture its rightful place on the global economic front”. GCEL’s Program will re-energize the global economy by reducing the cost of trade by 30%, leading to global savings of nearly $700 billion annually, $194 billion for Asia and $44 billion to ASEAN.

Da Nang, Vietnam, September 15, 2010 — The Global Coalition For Efficient Logistics (GCEL) presented its bold and innovative global HumaWealth Program to the ASEAN-Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC) members on the eve of the 42nd ASEAN Economic Ministers (AEM) 3-day congress. ASEAN-BAC members include high-level CEOs who recommend to their respective Governments trade policies and best practices towards achieving sustained economic growth across South East Asia.

In his welcome remarks, ASEAN-BAC Chairman, Dr. Doan Duy Khuong, urged ASEAN businesses “to take full advantage of the HumaWealth Program to help ASEAN capture its rightful place on the global economic front”. He noted that the GCEL program would “advantage ASEAN’s key objective to facilitate and promote economic cooperation and integration within the region”. As a result, GCEL has been invited to present its initiative at the upcoming ASEAN Business and Investment Summit to be held in Hanoi October 26 – 28, 2010 under the theme “Towards the ASEAN Community: From Vision to Action”. It is planned that the GCEL’s HumaWealth Program will be recommended at the 17th ASEAN Leaders meeting.

GCEL’s Co-Chairman Capt. Samuel Salloum addressed the elite audience, “Governments should not shoulder the burden of economic development alone and cannot afford strategic mistakes. The HumaWealth Program will provide businesses and regions the tools to reduce costs and reach operational excellence thereby earning physical infrastructure investments and trade finance which will help them compete in today’s global economy”.

GCEL has received strong support in the Euro-Med Region through its New Dimension Green Corridor Program between Egypt and Italy, as it will trigger 20 million new jobs, 271 billion euro in new trade and 32 million additional containers. GCEL and ASEAN-BAC will work together to deliver similar benefits within Asia leading the way to a new era of 21st century trade efficiency.

Capt. Salloum further added, “By delivering a 21st century era of trade efficiency, GCEL’s HumaWealth Program will re-energize the global economy through a 30% reduction in the cost of trade, leading to global savings of nearly $700 billion annually, $194 billion for Asia and $44 billion to ASEAN alone“.

The innovative HumaWealth Program will deploy digital “Soft Infrastructure” around the world. This Soft-Infrastructure will provided the tools and the road map required to connect the strengths of ASEAN’s businesses, including its vast number of SMEs, creating well-being across ASEAN, the region, and the world.

GCEL’s Soft Infrastructure has three critical ingredients to provide the tools that ASEAN businesses need to prosper. The first is an open platform information system that provides portal access and non-intrusive integration of existing systems yet allows seamless sharing of critical business and trade information with minimal standardization. This path-breaking technology will be made available to all businesses at no cost to them. The second is a network of world-class technology, finance, and insurance companies to deploy the technology. This network is carefully selected to address geopolitical and monopolistic concerns. The third is rapid global deployment program led by a public/private partnership demonstrating the benefits of increased trade efficiency and security through 4 initial Benchmark trade lanes in Asia, Europe, the Americas and Middle East /Africa over an 18 month period with global coverage in 30 months.

Mr. Gregory Bird, GCEL Executive Member, emphasized “we are making sure that ASEAN finance, insurance and technology firms are aware of a new USD 6 trillion 2020 market opportunity. ASEAN countries must be represented”.

GCEL plans to convene in the coming months its international HumaWealth Genesis Event at the Palais de Nations in Geneva. This event will be attended by CEOs of the world’s leading finance, insurance and technology firms for the commencement of the Request for License (RFL) process to select 28 of the most qualified firms to lead the global deployment of the Soft-Infrastructure.

As part of GCEL’s commitment to equal opportunity to all corners of the globe, similar Awareness Events are planned to be held in Singapore, Malaysia, Lebanon, Tunisia, Brazil, Italy and the United States. In each case, the goal is to present the global benefits of the HumaWealth Program to the public and the opportunity for their top banking, insurance, and technology organizations to be part of this initiative.
