Antoine Maurice Devine was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, grew up in Arizona and was educated at Jackson State University. He ran track, competing in the 110 meter and 400 meter hurdles, 200 meter sprint and long jump. Following a career in banking and finance, he entered the The University of Texas at Austin School of Law. After an internship with the Securities & Exchange Commission, he practiced securities and financial regulatory law in Texas and California. He resided in San Francisco for fifteen years, and after the dot.com era ended, he moved back to Arizona to begin writing. He now resides in Phoenix near the Ahwatukee Foothills, where he continues to consult on securities law matters.
