Austin, TX – 21 yrd old Independent Singer-Songwriter Ben Baxter (http://www.benbaxtermusic.com) has embarked on a solo acoustic tour through Indonesia from Dec.16th through early January 2011 that will consist of impromptu performances by Baxter during his travels. Baxter’s Manager, Phillip Couchman comments, “The plan is to backpack around and put together impromptu acoustic gigs for Ben while getting to see as much of the country as possible.”
Ben Baxter’s unique sound is a familiar twist on roots reggae with surf inspired acoustic vocal stylings reminiscent of G.Love, Bob Marley and Citizen Cope. His lyrics tend to be fueled with serious themes such as homlessness, consumerism and self awareness. The video for his latest single, “I Am” streams images from pivotal moments in history including civil rights movements during the 60’s against issues such as segregation. Couchman adds, ” The video is about the importance of the public to stay active in government. It shows various things throughout American history that have been achieved through people getting out and by actively making a stand against things.”

Through his blog, friends and fans will be able to watch his impromptu performances during his travels and communicate with him. His acoustic hiking tour beings in Jakarta until December 24th . From there he will travel to attend a Reggae Fest in Pahkut Thailand where Couchman is hoping to get Baxter on stage for an impromptu performance. Other stops for Bexter include a stop in Bali to celebrate the New Year and then back to Phakut for a brief stay before returning to the States. Baxter explains the motivation for the impromptu nature of the tour by adding, “Inspiration is a huge part of my writing, I’ve never really left the states so when the opportunity to go on this came up so I jumped all over it. I plan to write at least five songs in each city, there are so many stories to be told and I plan to share them soon!”
