Boom! Magazine Supports Arts Accessibility
Co-Sponsoring Arts and Aging Discussion on June 29
CARY, N.C. (June 17, 2010)—Boom! Magazine (boomnc.com), a monthly publication dedicated to the active lifestyle of those 45 and older, is co-sponsoring the June 29 discussion entitled Arts and Aging: Accessibility Issues and Community Opportunities.
Hosted by Arts Access (artsaccessinc.org), a Raleigh nonprofit that strives to make the arts accessible to people with disabilities, the event will include discussions on Triangle arts and cultural opportunities, addressing barriers to participation, and accessibility accommodations and support. Preferred Living Solutions Inc. (preferredlivingsolutions.com) is also sponsoring the event.
“This event is an excellent educational opportunity for active adults, therapeutic recreation staff members and activity directors to learn about available options in the area,” says Barbara Petty, Boom! Magazine publisher and Arts Access board member.
Boom! Magazine’s sponsorship continues its commitment to enhancing the active lifestyle of Triangle residents over 45. The publication has been a sponsor of the North Carolina State Senior Games, the North Carolina Conference on Aging, the Cary Visual Arts Ball and the PineCone Winter Festival. In addition, Boom! regularly serves as media sponsor for area performing arts shows and community theatre groups.
“We are so very thankful for the support from Boom!” says Barbara Olson, president of the Arts Access board of directors. “It is the longtime efforts from the community that allow us to provide these services to those who need it most.”
