BrightLife Direct Donates Compression Stockings, Shoes to Charity

Washington, DC – January 19, 2010 – BrightLife Direct, a compression clothing distributor, recently donated several hundred pair of support stockings and orthotic shoes to the Triangle Residential Options for Substance Abusers, Inc. (TROSA).

“TROSA contacted us several years ago regarding their need for support hosiery,” said Kip Bright, president of BrightLife Direct. “Since that time, we have been making regular donations of compression stockings twice a year. This time, we added in some orthotic shoes as well.”

BrightLife Direct most recently sent 278 pair of women’s compression stockings and 8 pair of Orthaheel shoes. This is in addition to the 419 pair of support stockings sent in the spring of this year.

“Since the majority of the clients that TROSA works with are women, we send them what they can use the most,” said Bright. “They try to get people back into the work force. We try to send TROSA the sheer compression stockings when we can so that their clients can be dressed appropriately for work.”

Most of the people assisted by the non-profit organization based in Triangle, North Carolina have been struggling for more than 10 years. BrightLife Direct sends hundreds of stockings to TROSA each year. The donations are comprised of packages which have been previously opened by customers. People shopping online sometimes order several pair of compression socks in different sizes, rather than using the helpful size chart available on the BrightLife Direct website. The items that do not fit are returned. According to federal regulations, once these products have been opened and returned, they cannot be sold. Because the compression stockings, support hose and orthotic shoes have only been tried on, Brightlife Direct donates them to those in need.
