Brilliance Academy goes Web 2.0

November 12 – Addison, TX – Brilliance Preschool and Academy has launched various new web 2.0 formats for parents to connect with and maintain a strong relationship with the school.

Brilliance Academy will operate a blog on its website, a Facebook page, Twitter account, Flickr account and other social media clients. The move is in response to changing attitudes towards traditional media and how people receive their news. “Right now parents want to be able to connect with the school where their kids are at,” said Kelly Newberry, Director at Brilliance Academy. “Parents are looking for new ways to be a part of their kids’ everyday life and our social media really helps out.”

So far Brilliance Preschool and Academy has set up a Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Friendfeed, Delicious, Digg and their home blog to help parents find out information from the school. Parents are encouraged to become friends of Brilliance Academy as well as follow them on Twitter. The Flickr account is used to deliver photos of the children and events to the parents directly. Facebook and Twitter are used to give information out about the school. Friendfeed, Delicious and Digg are being used to showcase articles that feature the school or education related aspects that influence Brilliance Academy.
Brilliance Academy posts a variety of material online such as photos, promotional material, school information and school meetings. Director Kelly Mayberry says, “We will continue to expand our web 2.0 plans to take advantage or any new media that comes about.” Brilliance Academy plans to find ways to reach parents at the school and to spread their message throughout the community.
