Australians will able to jet straight to New Zealand’s hot and steamy magnet, Rotorua, when Air New Zealand begins the first direct flights from Sydney to the popular North Island destination this December.
Australian discount flight site, Direct Flights, is offering fares on the new route from $483 return, including taxes.
Air New Zealand will use 152-passenger A320 aircraft on the route, twice weekly, from December 12, 2009, allowing Australians to spend the Christmas season amongst Rotorua’s gushing geysers, gurgling mud pools and rejuvenating hot mineral springs with temperatures up to 43 degrees.
Rotorua also boasts volcanoes, steaming lakes, colourful Maori villages and dancing – plus the chance to join a ‘hangi’ earth oven feast – and a range of adventure activities including jetboating, luging and ‘zorbing’ down hills in transparent balls.
Until December 31, 2009, Direct Flights is offering special Air New Zealand launch fares from Sydney to Rotorua for travel from December 12 to December 31, 2009.
