Cash for Appliance Clunkers Online Rebate Guide Unveiled by Thor Appliances

LOS ANGELES – January 28, 2010 – Thor Appliance Company, a leading supplier of compact and efficient home appliances, today unveiled its online “Cash for Appliance Clunkers Rebate Guide” available online through the company’s website at www.ThorAppliances.com.

Designed to help consumers quickly locate upcoming ENERGY STAR® cash rebates in their area, the new guide offers a state-by-state breakdown of government-funded appliance efficiency programs. “We worked to create a quick reference guide that provides all the key facts and important links at a glance,” said Michael Lee, Thor’s vice president of web development. “While this information is available through individual state agencies and the ENERGY STAR web site, we found that getting details such as the rebate amount offered for each appliance, often required sifting through many pages.”

Funded as a part of the Federal Government’s American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA), the $300 million nationwide appliance rebate program relied on each state and U.S. territory to design a plan to increase sales of new ENERGY STAR rated home appliances. Federal rebate funding was provided in the fall of 2009 and most rebate programs are slated to launch in March and April of 2010. Funds were divided among states based primarily on population. The result was the creation of over 50 programs offering hundreds of rebates on a variety of ENERGY STAR home appliances.

Thor’s rebate guide is sorted alphabetically by state and provides the projected start date for each program, a list of qualifying appliances, the rebate amount, and a direct link to each state’s energy efficiency web site. The guide, which will be updated weekly, can be accessed via a link from Thor’s home page at www.ThorAppliances.com or directly at www.ThorAppliances.com/efficiency/rebates.php.

All information presented on Thor’s rebate guide was taken from the ENERGYSTAR.GOV web site or from individual state energy efficiency documents. Consumers are encouraged to contact state energy efficiency agencies directly with questions regarding rebates.
